Note that I'm a total newbie on painting issues -- so feel free to explain in kid terms. smile.gif

My wife's 70 SS was painted about two years ago (according to the previous owner). It looks great overall -- we're happy with it -- but it does have a few chips here and there on the door edges and such. Best case, I'd like to fix them to near invisible if possible for cheap -- worst case, I'd like to at least do something to prevent them from getting worse and/or rusting since the metal is exposed.

So, I'm open to suggestions on how to handle them. I've snapped some pics to try to help:

This one is about 1/2" long on a door:

This one shows various chips along both sides of where the frame and door come together:

This one is again on a door edge -- but is more than just missing paint -- it has actually scarred a bit of the metal -- which I assume makes it more prone to rust and such:

This last one is something different. It looks more like a problem with the paint job itself. I don't know if rust underneath causes this or not being properly cleaned or what. Basically, the paint has cracked -- but it still seems to be underneath the coat of clear on top. In other words, you can't tell from the picture, but if you run your hand over it, it is still fairly smooth -- it isn't flaking up or anything -- although you can feel the texture of the problem:

Thanks for any tips/suggestions/help!

since the CHIPS are on the sides & corner of the door you can try to sanding down the CHIP MARKS ONLY & theN using TOUCH-UP-PAINT..

YOU WILL NOT SEE THAT MUCH OF THE DIFFERENCE.

I did it to a 95 integra, other people never notice graemlins/beers.gif

Thanks for the reply!

Any hints on how to find proper touch-up paint? Do I take it somewhere where they can do a color match? Basically, it was painted before we got it -- and the guy I bought it from isn't easily accessible and likely wouldn't remember exactly what he had done anyway. :( So, I'm not sure how to even find touch-up paint.

Also, as far as sanding it down goes -- any hints on that? Type of sand paper or equipment or whatever? Again, I'm a complete newbie to paint, sorry...
