Hello all,

I'm looking for a MSD crank trigger for a buddy of mine for his small block Chevy. The motor currently has a 7.25" Fluidampr on it now. MSD offers 3 part numbers with the diameter wheels in 6.25", 7.00" and 8.00" respectively. Part number 8600 is the 6.25 inch, 8610 is the 7.00 inch and 8615 is the 8 inch. Is anyone using this balancer and what size are they using?

I talked to Summit and they said to use the 7" piece while MSD told me to use the 8". I just want to be positive before I open it all up!

As always, any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I'd go with MSD's recommendation. I've got the 8" MSD carnk trigger on a BBC using the 7"ATI damper. If I used a trigger wheel smaller than the damper, the pick-up coil / bracket assembly would hit the damper.

John,

Thanks for the info. It makes sense now that I think about it that the balancer needs to be smaller than the trigger wheel. Unfortunately I'm still learning here and probably will be for a long time to come!

Thanks again!
