I need to get the drip rail molding off of my '71 Four Door with vinyl top; so that I can check for rust, clean up the roof, and paint or replace the top. I remember reading that there is a special tool for removing the molding without damaging it, but the guys at NAPA couldn't help me find it. Anybody got a tool number, or a picture they can post or email me?

Anything else to be aware of before I start this project?

Many thanks,
mark.

Don't know of any special tool. I used an old fashioned bottle/can opener with the end wrapped in electrical tape. Worked great.

and I used a small standard screwdriver with electrical tape, the best tool for this job is patience and dont bend the trim.

I used the sawn end of a 2x2 about 6" long and tappped it off with a hammer. Get behind it with the block and tap it off a little at a time.

I use a bottle opener that I dipped in pastic-dip,
works great and you don't have to worry about scratches.
