: 1972 two tones
Lost el camino Mar 7th, 06, 4:13 PM Looking for info on '72 two tones. Any info. Production totals. Option codes. Also looking for my old one. May be on the east coast. NC car originally. Aztec gold two tone. Looking to buy also. New to this forum. Would like to say hello from a former elky owner and looking for another.
Mr. D Mar 9th, 06, 2:53 PM I have a 72 elcamino I will be selling soon. i painted it two tone . . . a newer gold with black on the bottom rocker area. IT looks awesome!! (IMHO). These were not original colors however. I have seen white with silver lower.
sorry I don't have any info and two tone #s.
email me if you want some pics. ratchetmasterman@hotmail.com

Not sure what you mean by two tone 72 elkys. I think all the Std elkys had the silver along the bottom plus some had the vinyl tops of different colors. You can look here (http://www.chevelles.com/elcamino/ec_spot.htm) for some GM photos from back then.
If you mean two tone like the one below, it's pretty special. Not many of those around.

bisjoe Mar 9th, 06, 5:59 PM Maybe it was a geographical thing. I have only seen a couple of them with the silver bottom, but have seen many around here with the two-tone and vinyl roof extended to the tailgate. The one in your pic is special, that I have never seen and might be custom, but much more common, at least in this area, is the vinyl roof as below but with the rocker panels matching the vinyl color. All I could find was this one with the extended vinyl and silver bottom!

The one in the photo belongs to a guy on here that goes by CHELKAMINO.
Also, here's a previous thread to read through with some more pictures. Pretty interesting stuff.

Lost el camino Mar 10th, 06, 8:42 AM The blue and white one is correct for '72. Same trim as the one I had. 2 tone option only available after mid year '72. Here are some pics of my old one. Aztec gold-can't remember the name of the other color but it's a deep brownish gold. http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_album351.html
Mr. D Mar 17th, 06, 9:37 PM here are a couple of pics of mine . . . not all the chrome was back on yet.

no vinyl top
JWagner Mar 18th, 06, 3:47 PM I have one of the 72's with that extra chrome trim, but the paint is now one ugly color. At first I thought that the trim was some odd aftermarket stuff, but research here showed it to be factory stuff unique to 1972 models.
CHELKAMINO Mar 19th, 06, 10:40 AM Yup....that be my Elky:D!!
I had her for sale the other year, then decided to keep her for awhile yet.
It has slowly become my daily driver here lately. But I have a few upgrades in mind soon, so I will be pullin her motor and trans. I lucked out getting this one, its pretty much all origianal with 166,000 miles.
Mine is NO custom by any means. It is painted the correct Mulsane blue over Antique white. They were a veerrryy late paint option that was brought out to get the pulblic interested in the '73 model El Camino customs. I tried hunting down any extra side bed trim (the one that seperates the blue from white) yeah.....................good luck:rolleyes:!!!

Here is some interesting reading. This owner added hood stripes. Looks good with the white. Your twin. http://elcaminocentral.com/gallery-album_Lens72Gen3-NECOA__6151.html
CHELKAMINO Mar 20th, 06, 11:51 AM Yeah....he emailed me awhile back. He bought his new in 72 and has been in the family since. I know El Camino Central's site crashed a few months ago and I never got my pics back on yet.
