This might be a pretty basic question but - I am rebuilding the fuel delivery system on my 69 Mali (327 from a 68) and will drop the gas tank, have it cleaned, blow the fuel lines, replace the dried out fuel pump and put it back together. After I fill the tank is there anything special I need to do to get fuel from the tank to the carb or will the pump take care of this in due course? It cranks and will run if gas is put directly into the Q-jet but we are assuming the diaphragm has dried out from sitting for more than a year in the Nevada sun.

You really shouldn't need to do anything additional, it's no different than when I let my EC sit for 3 weeks during a freeze here, when I did start it again it cranked over 10-12 seconds before the gas made it back up from the pump. In your case you have to get it from the tank to the pump also, so it could take longer. Just start with a good charge on the battery.
