I just purchased a 68 El Camino that is about 80% restored. All the rubber seals and weather stripping around the doors and windows have been replaced but there is about a 3/8 gap around the top of the door from the post back. The doors look straight and the guy I bought it from gave me original pictures so I know that the truck wasn't in a wreck. All my research tells me that there is no addittional rubber missing along the door frame, so I'm open to any suggestions or leads. THANKS

Is the gap between the weatherstrip & body? When does the weatherstrip get tight to body again? Use dollar bill, or a 50 if your are loaded, start at lower front of vent frame, close door on bill, not your fingers, bill should pull out with some difficulty. Repeat following contour of upper frame to rear at handle. You can also check lower door frame inside using same process. If the only loose place is that upper rear corner, open door, carefully place knee at base of upper rear frame and pull in on upper frame GENTLY!! You may need to repeat pulling a little harder each time. Check glass up & down operation after each adjustment. DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL:: you have verified ALL other fits & sealing surfaces are correct!!!

I have the EXACT same problem! my 69 elky drivers door whistles wind around the rear part of the window frame too... you can see a gap the whole way around the back edge... The gaps are perfect everywhere else, door to fender, door to 1/4 panel, etc... I'm afraid of pulling on the door though... are you sure this is a legitimate fix?

Maybe MARTINSR can moderate this one. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif My favorite part of collision repair is making things fit. 40+ years worth. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif I restate my warning: ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure ALL other fits are CORRECT. Bending & Twisting does NOT replace carefull adjustments. PS. My screen name reflects the fact that I bought a 66 elky drove it ONE month, then decided to "paint" it. EIGHT years later still apart (full frame off) but getting there. Good Luck! Karl
