I found a set of 68 sets to put in my 71 chevelle SS, will these work or are they two completely different seats, I am converting from a bench seat, what all will I need to do this. Also, should I even go with the 68's or keep searching for 71 seats?

The physical dimensions of the factory bucket seats are identical. The obvious visual differences are the seat coverss and the placement of the seat back release button, which is located on the side in 67 and 68, and on the rear upper seat back from 69 to 72. There are numerous less obvious differences inside the seats and really don't impact most folks decision to use one or the other. Seat track are the same. So the quick answer is yes, they will work and only those who know what they are looking at will know the difference. 68 seats are somewhat unique and may in time command a premium sale price. There are more 69 to 72 iterations to be had and if Econ-101 serves me, they should be more reasonably priced. It is of course your choice to make, but if it were me, I'd opt for a set from 69 to 72.

At a minimum, you will need to purchase the bucket seat brackets, available from our sponsor, and weld, do not bolt, them to the floorboard.

Good luck,
Patrick

Not sure but I don't think 68 came standard with headrests where 69-72 did.
