well heres my problem
i just installed a 4 row repo radiator to take the place of my 3 row.
it bolted in fine, now heres my problem, my original fan is 17 3/4 inches will not clear the shroud at the bottom (shroud is a BB molded plastic repo worked fine on the 3 row)
so no go on the shroud and also after searching all the local auto parts i finally find a fan clutch with a short enough shaft so that it will clear the radiator, even so with it if the shroud could be installed the fan would be totally inside the shroud to my understanding the fan should be in 1/2 and 1/2 out?

does anyone know what size fan i need ?? and maybe a part # on the correct fan clutch

my engine is a 396 325 hp 67 casting all original

i can make the fan work now if i cut the botom of it out, but thata not what i want to do, evene if i did the fan would still be way to far in the shroud

thanks for any help

This seems odd ... as the shroud worked fine with the 3 row
heres something to look at the header thickness between the 3 row and 4 row was 3/4 on a inch difference stock this alone shouldn’t have caused the problem .

But as these re-pops go ... this may be a generic rad made to fit Impalla and a host of other cars ...so the holes to mount in the side channels may be different then your stock 3 row ... my suggestion , would be place the rads back to back standing on the floor .. see if the wholes line up for mounting ... same as the 3 row....It sounds like things may have moved from original fan hole spacing or where it mounts to the core support ... as if the fan shroud holes moved up a bit on the new rad .. hence causing the shroud to hit the fan at the bottom .

you may have to relocate holes at core support mount on the rad ....or fan shroud holes moved down slightly for a correct alignment for the fan
just me 2 cents as I cant see it from where I am sitting

i just measured my radiator its 3 inches thick
and about 21 inches from the very top to the very bottom

does this sound like a 66/67 radiator im suspecting the 21 inches is too short
and thats whats causing my shroud problems

Sbubby my radiator is 21 top to very bottom also. I purchased one of those exact same shrouds a couple years ago and could not mount it to my 4 row, either, On a lot of repro, parts alittle mods are in order.
