I have a 70 with a smallblock. I hare searched the forums and found that some SB guys are running these coilovers with the BB spring. I read on the 'net that the SB springs progress from 250 to 350 lbs, and the bb goes from 350 to 450. For anyone with a SB running the BB springs, how stiff is it? I want this thing to handle as we have lots of fun twisties in Oregon but I also want to take long road trips in it without the wife and my back complaining about a harsh ride.
Also, in general, how do you folks like the qa1 coilovers?

Clark, I have ridden in a BB 67 chevelle with the BB springs and I thought it was on the soft side. My 03 Mustang GT has 450 springs stock and I wish it had at least 650 (same as Mach 1, Bullitt). Of course I like my cars on the stiff side. The shocks have alot to do with the ride quality. The adjustability on the shock may help. Stiffer for the curves, softer for the open road. Good luck.

I think I have decided on the BB springs. If I go on long road trips I can always put the shocks on their lightest setting. I found another thread on this same topic last night and that was pretty helpful too.

I ran the QA1's w/BB springs on my 69 w/SBC. Even with the shock dampening turned down to the #1 setting, the ride was very harsh. If I had it to do over,I would've used the SB springs and turned the dampening knob up some more, instead. Just my opinion,Clark.

I initially had the lighter coil over springs on the front of the '70 but quickly swapped them out for the heavier ones. Thought it might make for better weight transfer but the SB springs were bottomed coil to coil.
Even the BB ones are compressed tight now that they've been in there for over a year...
These are the "R" series QA-1 shocks on Global West upper and lowers w/2nd gen Camaro spindles.
