Can anybody tell me where the shifter hump should be welded to the floor for a 68 WITH a console? I have the correct hump for the console, but I don't know the exact location of where it goes, so that it looks correct. Maybe somebody has their rug out of their car and could give me a measurement from the door opening and the firewall as reference points? I have a gaping hole in the floor right now, and I have a great view of the street. Thanks.

just a suggestion. why dont you place the new cover over the hole(tunnel) and place the plastic cover on the tunnel cover and install your console . after you have it lined up with the console and shifter. tack weld it in several places, then remove the console and continue the tack welds. seal it with a good sealer then reinstall the console . just a thought good luck

Mocking up the console and hump was my last resort. I was hoping for a floorboard mark or a measurement from somebody with a factory 4-speed with a console. Oh well, guess I will go with your suggestion and my second choice. It is probably the best way to line it up, anyway.

Just a suggestion. I didn't weld mine on but used sheet metal screws instead so if I ever need access to the linkage from the top it will allow me to do so. I used spray on undercoating for the underside and a good seam sealer between the cover and the floorpan. By the way mine is a bench seat 4 speed so I doubt if any measurements would do you any good. Good luck.

I have a 69 SS 4-speed car that I am going thru the same thing, although my original hump is still intact for the most part. I don't know how to attach a picture to this web page as I am pretty computer illiterate, but I can e-mail them to you.The measurements that I took were from the leading edge(lip) of the floor seam in front of the shifter opening to the inside of the front shifter opening which is 7 1/2". Also I took a measurement from the inside of the rear lip of the shifter opening to the leading edge(front) of the rear console mount which is 16 5/8". If not clear let me know. Hope this helps. I will e-mail the pictures to you graemlins/beers.gif
