Thought this was going to be easy after reading the section in the fisher body manuel for removal of a 66 front door window regulator on a 2 dr hdt.

The old one came out "OK" because the rear upper roller was shot.

I can seem to get the replacement regulator far enough ahead inorder to get the rear roller to slip into the channel, about 1/2" from being able to get it in. Cranked the regulator up and down to all positions and there is none where I can get the regulator far enough ahead to slip the roller in.

The manual say it has to be in a position where the window glass was at it highest point.

I am almost positive it's the correct regulator as it matches the one I took out; but who knows. Is the fisher manual wrong in that I don't have to remove the window assembly? Would it work if I took the window stops out, took the rear window channel loose and held up the rear of the window up a little, maybe that would give me enought room to slip the roller in. Thought I should ask here before I have the better half help me by holding the window up as I don' have enough hands.

2 hands should be enough Its beens a few months since I put my glass back in my project but I think the stops were the last of the parts I installed, I think the key is to loosen the rear guide almost to the point were its going to fallout and that should give you the room you need after the glass is in then install the rest of the parts and adjust and tighten it all up. Hope it helps

You can get the glass in the tracks so it moves up and down. Then I would unbolt the regulator from the door and slip it back to where you can start the roller in the guide. Then move the window up or down so you can bolt the regulator back up. I didn't read this in a manual just my crazy way of doing things.

With my wife's help and the 2 dogs watching it's in. Had to take the two upper stops out and the rear guide out, then she held the window back and almost out, windowfelts still in so it wouldn't come out. Then I was able to slip the rear roller in and move it back and then the front roller. All is well. Thanks.
