i've never heard this issue even discussed and was just curious about it. while preping my frame a while back i noticed on the drivers rear there is what must be a date code stamped into my frame. it says 'parrish', then below that has 3 23 68 3. my car was assembled early march, so i have to assume it's the date the frame was made since it would work perfectly. is this anything anyone ever looks for when buying a 'matching' car? i'm just surprised i don't hear about it if so.

month / day / year / shift number - parrish is just one OE supplier to GM. Never looked to buy a 'numbers matching' car so I can't say how high it is on a shopper's list. If you could see above that on top of the frame, you should find a partial VIN as well. :)

thanks for the info dale. i'm not a numbers nut myself. i'm just surpised it doesn't come up more often. i'd think if people are worried about what kind of fastener to use and where, they might care if their frame was original or not. it's the single biggest piece of the car. after spending hours on this site and talking to car guys, i don't think i've ever heard the phrase 'correctly dated frame' uttered.
