: Rear spoiler...Anyone?
IsheeZR2 Apr 29th, 02, 5:37 PM I was curious if anyone has a rear spoiler on their car. I have a '69 Chevelle so that is the model i am mostly interested in. I am talking about a spoiler similar to a '69 GTO or a Buick GS or Hurst Olds.
Thanks
Michael
Shawn Apr 29th, 02, 8:56 PM I don't know, I was wondering what a Plymouth Superbird type spoiler would look on my El Camino.. probably not a good idea on my part. Check JCWhitney, or go to their website and order a free catalog. They have all sorts of stuff like that.

IsheeZR2 Apr 29th, 02, 10:18 PM Here is a spoiler that is offered by JC Whitney...thanks for that reference. What do you think about this. http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=14905&BQ=
Thanks

Shawn Apr 29th, 02, 10:27 PM That looks good, it matches the ones that were put on other cars of the era. Just have it painted the body color and you should be good to go. It would probably add a nice unique touch to your car.
IsheeZR2 Apr 29th, 02, 11:31 PM How should I go about deciding where on the car to locate it and at what angle.
Thanks
Michael
Shawn Apr 30th, 02, 12:36 AM That one reminds me of the ones that go on '69 GTO's, try locating some pictures of them and see where they are. It should mount right before the curve of the trunk where it goes down to the tail panel. I would buy it and just place it on top of the trunk in the general location you want it and look at it from different angles to see if you like it. Be sure you really like where it is before you go drilling.
If you plan on putting stripes on your car (on the sides of the body)you might wanted it painted the color of the stripes to contrast it.

SS_Dave Apr 30th, 02, 9:15 AM Anybody ever do this to a 69?
I am curious.
I thought about it. I mentioned it to a couple guys and they looked at me like I just
spit on the Virgin Mary.
I think it would look good myself. After all, there were a bunch of cars then that had these and some that did not look as good as a chevelle.

supersport396_2000 Apr 30th, 02, 7:12 PM Oh no,i seen one on a funky yellow 68SS yesterday and i thought it looked "RAUNCHY" it just doesn't work with the styling.
I love my 68's but the spoiler just done something to it http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif Probly the same on a 69.
IsheeZR2 Apr 30th, 02, 7:17 PM Was the type of spoiler that you saw the same style as the one in the link above.
Thanks for the opinion
Michael

pmullaly May 2nd, 02, 1:53 AM try finding the spoiler that was used on The 69 Yenko chevelle. Similar to the camaro piece.
I've got one on my 442 it does not turn down to the quarters but turns up instead.
Get one from a reputable supplier not JC
Sorry spoileris not in the 442 shot

jodysss396 May 2nd, 02, 10:55 AM I saw a rear spoiler on an episode of Horsepower TV a while back. Chuck was at an indoor car show of some sort and even made a comment about it. It was on a 69 Chevelle and I believe it was a Yenko. It did look sharp.

IsheeZR2 May 2nd, 02, 1:40 PM Where could i find a '69 Yenko spoiler. Actually i would prefer one like the Camaros as apposed to the other style we have been talking about. I would propably have to get a spoiler off of a Yenko wouldnt i. If so i might as well forget that idea because if i ever did find one it certainly wouldnt be cheap.
Thanks
Michael
