: Dyno results of new engine
Malibu Vette Feb 27th, 06, 12:14 AM I dynoed the new piece and have the results. The engine is a 582" short deck with Dart Pro 1 345 heads finished by the shop that built the engine. 14:1 JE cutom pistons and Eagle rotating assembly, Dart manifold unported and Pro Systems 1150 carb. We ran out of time so I know we left a few on the table due to the lean final numbers on the last pull.
911 HP @ 6800, 6900 and 7000 (Flat curve)
771 TQ @ 5700 with 500 rpms within 2 lb/ft of peak
Ave HP 817
Ave TQ 736
The intake is now being ported to match the heads and I will give her a little jet and stick on the Vacuum system. Now I just need to get the car from the painter, put it back together, and fure out how to hook this monster. I am hoping to sneek the power up to around 950. I will be asking for chassis help soon!!!
Malibu Vette Feb 27th, 06, 12:17 AM I don't know how I double posted, but admin please delete one of them. THANKS!!!
Camaro_fever68 Feb 27th, 06, 12:22 AM That's going to be a beast. Should be a lot of fun to drive. I think it'll meet your goal of 10.0 when you get it to hook.
EddieC67ss Feb 27th, 06, 9:57 PM Man that's gonna be fun to drive!
pdq67 Feb 27th, 06, 10:49 PM Malibu Vette,
What is your short deck 582's B&S??
Just wondering b/c I'm always mouthing off about using a 4.375" crank in a 9.8" tall BB.

Malibu Vette Feb 27th, 06, 10:57 PM 4.600 x 4.375 in a Dart Big M short Deck
Bob West Feb 27th, 06, 10:58 PM YEP, I think 911 hp will get 10 OH's easy enough  WOW
DragRacer Feb 27th, 06, 11:40 PM Malibu Vette,
Very nice dyno numbers. What was the final size of the intake runners? Minimum CSA? What were the final flow numbers? What kind of cam are you running?
You should be able to go better than 10.0hs with that kind of power.
Malibu Vette Feb 27th, 06, 11:56 PM The cam is a comp grind .810 .784 284 306 on a 112, I feel stupid, but what is CSA?
I do not know the final intake runner size, just that they started as a Pro 1 345 and were hand finished and flowed. I also did not get the flow sheet on the heads. I will request that from the builder.
DragRacer Feb 28th, 06, 12:11 AM Sorry, CSA = cross sectional area.
Harold Sutton Feb 28th, 06, 1:23 AM DragRacer, it sure will be interesting to see what this nice sized motor turns. Do you plan to keep the same gearing? My son has a 598" tall deck with slightly less compression in the same type car that we never Dynoed and i'm real curious as to how well yours is going to run. I'm trying to get my son to make an all out motor run with somewhere in the neighbouhood of 3.89 rear gears. How much does your car weigh and are you going to stay with the 400 Turbo transmission? One of our locals has a new 632" aluminum BB in a '69 Camaro that has run a 8.99 E.T. but it is quite a bit lighter than our Chevelle. I asked him the other day at a street race what it weighed and beings he's a nice guy he told me it was a little under 3200 lbs., with him in it. It's a really nice car and real well maintained and driven. P.S.... You should gain right at 26 RWHP with the vacuum pump in place.
Malibu Vette Feb 28th, 06, 9:49 AM Harold, I plan on keeping the same gear for now. The car weighed 3480 without me when I bought it. I have added a battery, mufflers, and replaced fiberglass fenders with sheetmetal. I have also gutted the doors and installed fiberglass bumpers. I need to do a little more surgery here and there to get the weight down. I will re wiegh when it gets out of paint and the motor back in it. I would like to keep drag radials n the car if I can get it to work, but if not I will put on a set of slicks. I am planning on keeping the 400 at least for now. I may eventually put a glide in it, but that will have to come later. Thanks fo rthe feedback.
69 Ratt Vette Feb 28th, 06, 11:18 AM Killer motor, good luck. How much tire can you get under the car ?

If you get the weight down to 3500 it will probably run closer to 9.0s or even a high eight. The aluminum motored Camaro here is pretty light and has real good heads and intake. (Brodix 1803 heads and matching intake, 11-1 comp., 632 inches and bites real good).
Malibu Vette Feb 28th, 06, 11:14 PM Right now it has 315 ET Street Drag Radials. There is a little more room with the new rear quarter panels, but I will have to see how much will fit when I get it home. I visited the body shop today and he said maby it will be painted by Friday, but I think more realistically next Friday. I am getting excited about getting git put together and playing with it. Rat Vette, I will bring it down to Irwindale when finished along with my friends 10 second LS1 powered 71 Chevy truck.
