It seems like the price of paint materials
has gone through the roof the last couple
years and about all of the paint supply
companies have have econo grade products
available now. What would you lose by
going with econo products?-
Ease of application?
Durability?
What about these products allows them
to be that much cheaper?

I have no idea about the grades and your question but there are some relatively inexpensive prices here.. www.autobodysupply.net (http://www.autobodysupply.net)

Check out your local ppg line for omni line. Good paint for good price. I agree the price of paint is out of line. Thanks government. We love ya!

yes prices are high.I have used Five Star thinners and reducers for primer and cleanup, and they are about half the price. Also have used Five Star, Valspar and Mar hyde 2k primer with great results.Mar hyde makes some good clears too which are low priced. Also U-Tech has a whole line of sealers, primers and clears that are good. You may notice the primer may sand bit harder. But if your not using it every day in a production shop does it matter? Its like generics in every other industry.Green Giant may make the green beans that Shop Rite slaps there name on and sells for half the price, why?I have used Duponts Nason clears and really cant tell the difference between that and the more expensive stuff.I have had some paint reps tell me that there are only one or two manufactures in the world of the chemicals that go into these products,so most are basically the same.I don't know how true it is but i have never had a problem using off brands.Just follow the directions and don't abuse the product.

I've been doing mail-order to get all of supplies EXCEPT for paint. I get jobber prices at several suppliers and the mail order costs about 1/2 of the other big named paint suppliers. Pivco is a mail order house with the lowest prices I've seen. They sell Mar-Hyde primers & products. They carry 3-M stuff as well as some other brands of materials. The urethane primer is very good and I highly recommend it. They're in Evensville Indiana. 812-479-1117
