Im thinking about painting my 69 SS Black. What would i need to do to the body, to make a sharp looking Chevelle? Which shade or colour name. Post some pictures.
Thanks..Ron

Ehd Pic were great. They are all nice. I like the one with the cowl hood.
They seem to look better without wheel well and rocker trim.
Anyone else with pics.

Why thanks Ehd!

Follow the links below.......... :D

The cowl hood is by Glastec. it is a 67 Z-28 cowl grafted onto a 69 Chevelle flat hood. The custom work was by Glastec and very reasonable with the top finish very good but the back was rough and took a few hours of filling and sanding before painting.

Ehd...The 3rd pic....It has the rocker trim. Do you have any more info on that car? Mine is black and has the rocker trim. That is the only other one I have seen with it. I have found the trim listed in the accessory parts, but would like to know more. Anyone know about the trim? Was it a dealer installed part? Over the counter thing? Any info appreciated.

Ron,
Here is a link to some pics of my 69 Tripple Black SS. Take a look, I really like what the vinyl top does to the body style, especially on a Black one. :D

Is it trim or paint? I've seen a couple painted Argent on the rockers and with the wheel opening trim. Looked especially good on a blue car.

Mine is trim. Stainless. Fits perfect. I am considering taking it off.

Ron,
I think it's called "Lamp Black" I have a a GM container of touch up paint, and that is what it says in it. The guy I bought the car from actually had the paint done. My GM touch up matches it perfectly though.

Our '72 Lemans Sport has the factory rocker trim and it looks quite similar to the one above.

TDW, some guy posted a series of 12 pictures of that car in alt.binaries.automobiles or alt.binaries.pictures.auto or something like that. There are a bunch of newsgroups where people constantly post all kinds of auto pictures and I went nuts for a few weeks and got several thousand of them, from Delahaye to Nash to AMC, etc. All that to say that I don't know anything about the car other than that I have pictures of it.

I put them in my showroom, here (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/Ehd)

Enjoy!

EDIT: Gazzer, just looked at your pics and realized that I had downloaded them and forgot about it. Love the black car contrasted with the snow....hopefully I didn't annoy anyone with that "best" comment...they're all better than mine smile.gif One day I will have one worthy of painting black...

I had the Rocker panel moulding in my Lemans blue 69SS it was showing to be factory installed very rare on SS models.I brought this up a few years ago here and everyone at the time seem to think it was not original?

Mike...I know that mine did not come from the factory. The third owner installed it, but he bought the trim from the original selling dealer. The original owner of my car was the service manager of the dealership, and he got the trim for the installer. Said it was an accessory item. I have pictures of the car in 74, and the trim is not on it. I haven't found any information that says they were factory installed. I have an accessory catalog from 69, and it is listed in there.

TDW, yes its all there and I just took a couple of pics. The only changes from original are the PCV hose that I replaced with that red hose until I can find the right one. Smog pump and emission type exhaust manifolds have been swapped (manifolds) and removed (pump). I have the originals and will reinstall when and if I do restoration. Oh and the battery is new.

As you can see its a little dusty under there. I've been finishing my new shop and left the hood up for a while. I should get a car cover!
