..if I should start it up or not. I got my chevelle at new year from the US. And it has been standing since then. I want to start it up, but dont know if I should. There are both cons and pros, right? But the sound of it, is almost worth it alone. And I wanna see that everything is working. So that I know if there is anything that needs to be fixed before I take it to the Swedish car inspection when the spring comes. I cant take it for a drive now because we have snow here(Sweden).

If I decide to start it, is there anything I should think about, considering that it has been standing still for a long time?

Just let it run long enough to let ALL condesation in the exhaust to be burned off. You don't want to start rust formation in there.

You guys in Sweden also salt the roads when it snowing?? Well in Hoilland they do and it terrible for your car! Protect the underside of your car if it's not done already.
Before driving off course check all fluid levels.

Is it enough protection if I do it myself with spray cans? or should I take it to a shop?

How long has it been since the last time it was started?
How cold is it?
At least change the oil.
Prime the carb.
Charge the battery.
