I have a new GM fender. It has the black type of primer on it from the manufacturer. Can I just shoot 2 part epoxy primer over this finish or do I have to remove it or rough it up first?

Jimmy P Jun 4th, 01, 10:58 AM 1st, before you even take paper to it, clean it with a degreaser (dish soap) Then, Rough it up evenly with 320 grit paper. I'd even wet-sand it. MARTINSR Jun 4th, 01, 9:08 PM That "e coat" primer is zinc rich and is a GREAT base for any undercoats. This is NOT the old junk primer that they used to put on the replacemnt parts.
