: Anyone using motor plates on the street?
BillyGman Feb 23rd, 06, 3:02 PM I was wondering if the use of motor plates (particularly a mid plate) causes a lot of vibration to be transmitted from the engine into the interior of the car. If so, is it barely noticeable, or is it so apparent that it would get downright annoying during highway cruising on a street brawler car? And would you, or have you ever used them on a street driven car yourself???
b-man Feb 23rd, 06, 3:05 PM If so...........
Would anyone post some photos of same? What about a mid plate as well?

Thanks!!

66rat Feb 23rd, 06, 6:38 PM IMAKEHP, I'll go on record and say, that's the nicest 69 Chevelle this boy has ever seen. Damn, your car is bad ass looking, and hauls ass too

Rob I will go on record by saying that I fully agree with your statement!!! BTW Tom, what do you think about the question I've posed in the first post of this thread? Significantly more vibration? Downright annoying for highway cruising?? What do you think???
IMAKEHP Feb 23rd, 06, 9:46 PM To be honest I have not noticed a vibration difference over just having solid mounts. But I will say this; everyone has a different tolerance level. So what I might be willing to drive back and forth to work other people wouldn't tolerate.
Thanks for the complements guys! Tom

Thanks for the complements guys! TomOkay Tom. Then what about going from the rubber or even Polyurethane motor mounts to the solid ones as far as noticeable vibration. Noticeable difference????? one more question...if I choose to use the motor plate(s) would now be the time to do that on my car since the body is now still off of the frame?? can they be installed while the body is already on the frame????
Bob West Feb 23rd, 06, 10:55 PM I can't say that I've noticed a significant amount of vibration going from rubber mounts to solid mounts, with a poly transmission mount. One sweet looking and running car Tom
DragRacer Feb 24th, 06, 12:06 AM I didn't notice any difference in vibration going from a stock replacement rubber mount to a solid Moroso mount. I did notice that I didn't have to replace the solid mounts every 3-4 passes like I did the rubber mounts.
This was in my '71 Chevelle with 10.3:1 - 383 SBC that ran mid-low 11's at 3600 lbs.
Tom, that is one very NICE and FAST car. Job well done. What is the driveline combo?

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if there's something else in play here other than just the motor mounts as far as the durability issue. I say that, because a guy I work with has a full interior and caged 69 Chevelle with a S/ced 396 engine puting down 750 HP, and he originally went with the solid motor mounts and snapped one. So he then replaced it with a polyurethane set, and he hasn't broken it yet. I know that the factory rubber mounts are too weak, because I blew one with a pump gas small block 350 engine in my old Vette. But I'm thinking that perhaps the polyurethane ones are considerably stronger.
Dave Feb 24th, 06, 12:27 AM That's an AWESOME wheelie!
b-man Feb 26th, 06, 9:09 AM Anyone have BBC motor and mid plate for a 70 Chevelle? Want to sell?

Couldn't have said it better, great point.
