I did something stupid...

I threw the reserve tire into the trunk without looking what i am doing.
It was straight, and it got stuck. After i got it out, I saw that i bent the bold metal that the weather striping goes on.. (It is goin into the trunk now, and causes a hole for water to get in...)

I bought a new trunk strip.
Is there any way that i can straghten that thing myself?

And.. how do i install the new strip? (There are instructions.. But i would like to hear some tips)

Well the only way too straighten that part out is with a hammer and dolly... you would place the dolly under the lip and pry it up too where it should be, then hammer any peaks or imperfections down.. YOU will remove paint in this process.. Just get it straight again and sand and prime.. The weatherstripping will go in with some adhesive and work it so the seam is down bottom... Good Luck.

normie is right. also maybe try putting tape to prevent from scratching the paint) over plyers or adjustable wrench. grip the edge and bend it back. after you prime any scratched areas be sure to paint. it will seal it from rusting. most primers dont seal.

Shai, depending on how bad you bent it, you'll want to lay in your trunk and close it (make sure you can open it up from the inside), and make sure the gap is a uniform size. I had to straighten the crap outta mine by lying in the trunk, opening and straightening, repeat a dozen times http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
