If I take off all body mouldings, chrome, emblems, etc. tape up the turn signals and mirrors, etc. etc. How much would a good paint job, (Original color) be? I mean gimme a ballpark or something? Is Macco cheap? Any ideas?

That's a real hard question to answer. No thirty year old car is without dents, rot and normal waer and tear. So here's some questions;
What shape is the body in now?
How much work needs to be done?
What kind of end product do you want?
If you'll post some pictures and give us some more info we may be able to help you more. The more work you do yourself, the less it's going to be. That's about the only given when addressing this type of broad question. Hard parts, machine shop labor, and mechanical estimates are 10 times easier to estimate than body & paint work.
If you want Maaco, or something similar, you;ll get what you pay for. Cheap paint that lasts a year. And it will look as good as YOU prep it.

well what condition is the car currently in?? is it in primer? or is it painted already and you are looking to go over it? if it's currently painted and you want it too look good you might want to prep it real well before taking it too Maaco or another quick and cheap place. if your in primer you would be better off.. however Maaco will charge you approx 179 bucks for a paintjob.. but you get what you pay for more info about your current car is needed to answer better..

Whenever i hear the word Macco I cringe. You can probably do a better job yourself using a toothbrush http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
I'd either prep it real good every year and send it to macco, Or spend at least $2k on a paintjob that will last you 20 years and look better than it did rolling of the showroom floor http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif.
