Having always admired el Caminos through my later teens (early '80s), especially the '68-'70 series, I finally grabbed my '68 roughly 4.5 years ago via eBay auction. Being the definition of "novice mechanic", I always did as much as I could on my own, but loved how nearly every situation that I couldn't resolve would most certainly be corrected through the advice of the crew at this site. Sorry that I can't list your user IDs at this time, but if you review my profile, I hope that you remember me and that I always tried to thank those whose insight and assistance eventually led to the fix(es) that had me way stressed. I still work for the City of Austin (ie, still poor) and my daughter is now nearly five and a half. She misses sitting in and jumping around inside the bed!

I can now confidently say that my '68 has recently returned to the previous (second, and now "fourth" owner) in San Jose, CA. Though we've never directly met, our phone calls and emails have created a fine sort of "virtual friendship" and I am most assured that this vehicle has returned to very good hands. He will be able to provide and care for it far better than I am able. Though I added/improved some simple features during my possession, I was always concious to retain the original aspects and minimize most tempting "upgrades". The present owner and I have always shared this focus. I don't know if he's a user of this site, but I will strongly encourage/remind him to visit and register.

Down the road, I hope to be in a better place financially so that I can accept another Camino, street ready or project, into my garage. In the meantime (bite your tongues...) I have purchased a '98 Dodge Avenger ES, V6. If anyone can recommend an Avenger/Sebring/Stratus dedicated site such as this, I would be greatly appreciative. I'm certain that it could not be as richly informative as this site, but anything has to be better than my crappy Haynes manual. My plastic, driver side door handle broke loose into my hand just four weeks after the purchase. It seems that this series of Dodge/Chrysler/Mitsubishi all share a similar, poorly-designed handle, on both the left and right sides.

Thanks again,
Brian

Where are you going??? I never understood the farewell posts just cause you are selling the Chevelle. Even if I sold mine I would still hang around in Bench Racing or help people with their problems.
