OK, Just looking for a ballpark guess as to what HP/TQ numbers I might see with this combo My father and I have been dreaming up;)
454 .030 over 10.1 Compression, fresh 781's(219/188 valves) with roller rockers, Voodoo 219/222 @.050 .530/.542 lift, Edelbrock Air gap Intake with Edelbrock 750 Man Secondary, Mallory HEI( 8.5mm MSD wires)Basic "Summit" headers running back to 3" 40 series Flows. again, Just Looking for a "best guess"...would really appreciate it...thanks!!;)

I don`t know about the hp numbers but your cam looks a little small for 10 to 1 compression. I would go up to the next biggest cam at least personally. I think the 276 cam wold be a great choice as well but I think the one you picked out is too small for the compression and you could have some pinging issues. Just my opinion.

That was my first thought as well. Somewhere in the 225@.050 would probably be better. Or go down to about 9:1 with that cam. You should be able to make 425+BHP with 9:-10:1 and the right cam. JMHO.

If you want that much at the wheels...you will definitely need more. I agree. The current engine you specd would have a pretty clean idle, still good horsepower(right around 425ish with good work on the heads), but with the small camshaft decision, it will be a grunter mostly. Also, its true that with 10:1 compression or better the possibility of pump fuel will be a bit questionable with that cam.

The voodoo 276 is a hydraulic cam Id strongly consider for your engine if your after one of the voodoo deals. Its probably capable of more like 470 or better WITH good work to those heads and a good tuneup. The next size larger voodoo(284 I beleive) should be even more capable but I really cant speculate for sure on how that will do.

To guarantee that kinda power at the wheels that your after, Id myself proably go after a larger solid flat tappet. One that I would consider is the lunati 402A3 solid. Its numbers are 243/251 at .050 on a 110LSA with .586/.600 lift. That cam can make an honest 500 horsepower out of a 454 assuming good tuning and good work to the heads. Depending on your drivetrain, it still may take a bit more to make your RWHP number.

Something like a 248/255 at .050 on a 110 should be more capable. This may be more than necessary. The 243/251 might be plenty capable. Its hard to call on based on all the other variables(Besides just the cam choice). That 402A3 cam is a well rounded streetable/stripable cam though. And of course, one of the voodoo hydro cams might do it for you also.

Get in touch with the grinder of your choice. Give them all of your specifics(engine and drivetrain) and let them draw up some ideas as to the best cam.

Greg picked the right CAM. The 402A3 is what I run with 781 heads and about 10:1 CR. It is a great CAM. Has a very nice lope and still has enough low end to fry the tires when you want to. My heads are lightly ported but have stock size valves. I am making real close to 500HP so with the work you have done to your heads, 500 should be easy with the 276/284 solid Lunati.

The guys are right about what you have being too small. You will play hell running that CAM on pump gas at 10:1. I would not want to go any smaller than the 402A3.
