We accuired an '89 Grand Prix from a friend.

I understand it is possible to damage the fuel pump if you run them out of gas to many times.
Some else told me there is a low fuel safety switch or breaker that will shut off the pump in the event it should run out of gas. They also said the switch can be reset but I have no idea where it is.

Is there anyone that knows about this Sort-O-Stuff ?

I have heard of that , too. The in-tank electric fuel pump I believe use the gas to keep it "cool", if that how you could put it, so running it out could cause overheating.

I have heard of Ford having a fuel pump safety shutoof-reset switch on the inside of the trunk, but not sure if the GMs have them there or not.

Hope that helps for you.

I was told there is a reset button some where in or around the trunk. Something to do with safety in the event of a rear-end accident, the fuel pump shuts off, hit reset button to reactivate the fuel pump.
