Can i convert a 1972 malibu 4dr into a 2dr
by putting on the 2dr car quater panels and the doors from it?
i mean... taking out the 4 doors + quater panels from the 4 door car, and putting on the quarter panels and doors from a 2 doors car....
Can i do that?
please let me know ASAP, because its important http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

No. At least not easily. The 4 door car has a longer body by about 4 inches.

The actual wheelbase is longer on the 4 door.
You'd need another frame.

Jwagner is exactly right The 4 dr frame is 4 inches longer and I did not know this until I tried to replace a wrecked 68 malibu frame with a 4dr frame .I believe the extra length was from body mount near front doors to rear kick up of frame. I guess you could cut 4 inches out as i did and all worked great, for me, but would your roof tie in ,

In a word, no. Your best bet would be to pull off the concept I have had... take a 4 door and chop off the trunk and then graft on an elcamino bed and lengthen the chassis and drive line. A crew cab long bed chevelle... beat that at the car show!

The windshield is taller on a 4 door. The rear glass is a different shape, the lower corners are more square instead of the sweeping arch. Structurally I don't think it would be feasible to modify the body into a 2 door.
I saw one in this town where they welded the rear doors shut! Ugh. They had a real hard time selling it too. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif Go figure. It looked odd with the larger 1/4 windows.
