Guys,
I got an Offer from AutoRestorer newsletter.
12 issues for $20.
I already get Car Craft and Hot Rod.
Is AutoRestorer worth it? Is it more old cars (Pre-1940's) and hot rods?
I like metal work, and I bought a MIG a couple years ago. I have tackled a few jobs (65 Chevelle floor/braces) and would like to read more "real articles" than what you get in Car Craft.
So, anybody have a couple issues? Are they full of adverts or articles?

I subsribed to them last year. It is full of informative How-To articles. There are no ads. Stricktly a restoration magazine. They get into real life jobs and describe in detail with pics.

If your hobby is auto restoration, then it is a must have. Fabulous articles for the guys who really want to do their own restorations. Their feature car articles are different and interesting. I dig it. If you want a lot of glossy color pics, then this simple layout black and white newsletter is not for you.

Exactly as Thomas and Tim says.
I've been subscribing for several years now. It's a no frills rag (black and white) and it's primary focus is body work. They run an article each month on whatever project car they are doing, detailing the body work that's going on at that stage, from dis-assembly to completion. Last project car was a Charger, current project car is a Mustang - 67 (I think) California Special. Their resident body guy, Larry something or other (Lyle?) is apparently a body guru. They they also typically run an article each month high lighting a particular car. There are some how-to's and a mechanics on call type section (readers send in their Q's). A little thin, perhaps, on the mechanical side.
I'd subscribe to AR before even thinking about a sub to HR, CC, or their like.

Definitely not full of advertisements, there are NONE. I like the fact that they don't need to pander to advertrisers when doing reviews. Yes, they do some pre-40's stuff, but they do a little bit of everything. They give good straight-forward info on a wide span of topics. IMO, it's definitely worth $20 a year.
