I thought they usually match the interior. Mine is going back to the correct Frost Green witha white (Parchment) gut. I hope to put the white graphics down the side.
Per the '69 Chevelle Dealer Specs Book, the interior color (in most cases) had nothing to do with accent stripe colors, but vinyl or convertible top color did. To answer your question, a solid Garnet Red car would get a black stripe. If it had a Parchment vinyl top or white conv top would get a white stripe. Even with Parchment interior, it gets a black stripe with solid Garnet Red exterior. Also per the book a solid Frost Green car would get a black stripe, even with Parchment interior. Of course you can make it any way you want it.

cool.. thank you gentleman. I was thinking black myself, but the paint itself is pretty dark so I wasn't exactly sure. My 69 was a black vinyl top car originally but was toast when I bought it,so I had my body guy fill everything in. He did a nice job. looks great.
quick question for Von. What would the correct color stripe be for a dusk blue exterior with a black interior be? I was hoping to use the white stripe to break up the exterior.
If a Malibu non-SS it lists a blue accent (pin) stripe. If SS it's a white SS stripe unless it has a blue or black vinyl top , in which case it gets a blue SS stripe. I didn't know there was a blue SS stripe in '69. That's a new one on me. Interior color has no bearing on Dusk Blue.
Thanks. I haven't heard of a blue stripe either. My car is a Malibu but I am going to do the SS stripe (not a full SS clone... i just prefer that stripe and the SS hood)
