I do!!!

I like to cruise to events within a day or so drive and it's easier on the budget!!! And with a 16mpg 454(highway)I get to brag on it a little. If I put the 2.73 gear back in I can do even better!!!

With the 400 and a heavy foot, I got 12 hwy.

With the LT1/4L60e and the same heavy foot, I'll be in the lower 20s (I'm speculating 22-23mpg :)

lots of smiles per gallon, particularly with a convertible! I like better mileage, particularly with higher gas prices and more mouths to feed on the same salary (I never knew a little girl could eat so MUCH...). I used ot get 15 with the 350 2bbl and PG, but I'm expecting better with the new 350/4 bbl and 4 spd OD. Don't know how much more yet. Probably worse, since I like the sound of those secondaries kicking in!

Daily driver? Yes. I'm cheap - I want to go as far as possible for as low $$ as possible.

Chevelle? Nope. Who cares :) Besides, I'd need to fix the speedo/odometer before I can even begin to calculate it....

I have a '71 wagon which is my daily driver and I only get around 7 mpg in town. It has some funky rebuilt two barrel carb on a crate 350. Can someone suggest (or better yet sell me) a resonably priced four barrel and manifold?

I dont know what kind of fuel milage I get in anything I drive I never have. I dont know I dont care. Who does? Do you think you can save a dime here and a dime there? I dont care how much fuel is either. Not much I can do about it but complain. The other day my nieghbor was whining that fuel went up a dime over the weekend. I told him "you are driving a $45,000 suv and it will cost you $10.00 dollars more this week then last" Your suv depreciates faster then that. Get over it. I fill my 454 chevelle up everytime I drive it. I think it gets -2 miles to the gallon.

Having to feed it premium with the prices high it does make a difference when you drive it every day to commute and for work driving. During our recent ice/snow/cold spell I found that I fill it twice as often as the Explorer. I'm thinking I should get better than 12 mpg and probably need to find time for a tuneup one of these days, or maybe it's the way I drive in it. Sure do love that sound when you mash on the gas.

I've never checked mine, and don't care, but as far as the wife knows, the 454 gets around 20mpg.

Only cared so I know how far I could go before needing a gas pump. A 16 gal. fuel cell seems small when you have a heavy foot.

apparently not, I have a 360 powered dodge, a suburban and a built 350 in the velle. the 70 will either have the 330 hp 350 crate or the 400 small block I have in the shed. The 81 pickup has a 327 vette engine that has been beefed up.

the velle drinks some gas, but it don't hold a candle to the burb.

Don't make any difference, gonna drive my inefficient Elky every time I get the urge!!!!! Would be kind of nice to maximize what I have with proper gearing for my cruise RPM though. Anyone ever consider that?

Yeah, right...If I wanted gas mileage, I'd be driving a Honda. :(
A 15 gal tank full of 93 lasts about 45 minutes.

My 70 with the 454 and the 4.10's got 15 MPG running at highway speeds at 3600 RPMs. It gets about the same with the 3.73s in it now. My Cutlass is horrible, I'm guessing it gets like 10. My 69 gets 12, no matter what, 12. The truck gets about 20 to and from work, about 25-26 on the highway not towing, 12 towing.
Do I care, not really. The price to pay for having horsepower

Gas Milage ? Last time I checked it it was 7 mpg. and that's not putting my foot into it. Do I put my foot int it ? All the damn time :D

I understand completely about not being concerned with fuel economy when it comes to a man's toys. After all, they are meant to be carefree fun and they aren't used every day anyway... right?

What I don't get is this vibe that asserts it is cool to be a wasteful pig. There are many downsides to excessive and needless energy use... do I really need to list them all here?

I would think that the only responsible, sensible answer is yes, I do try to be efficient on a daily basis but then I cut loose once in a while for fun, too!

My Chevelle gets about 5 MPG in the city and 14-15 MPG on the highway but who cares. Yea, I like the smiles per gallon! :D

The El Camino gets a combined city/highway of 18+ and I dig that. I do like getting the good mileage in the truck and the fact that I can run cheap regular unleaded and still knock down 400 HP. Sweet! :beers:

No. Especially not in the Chevelle. Of our four cars (one of which is the Chevelle) three are V-8s and the fourth is a thirsty 4 cam V-6. And, these are all cars, not an SUV or truck in sight!

Gas mileage and muscle cars is an oxymoron. I never even bothered to figure out what mine is. I dont even bother with my daily driver either.

My hobby has to be on a budget so I care. I was getting about 19 to the gallon on the highway with my single barrel 307. The new 350 4 barrel goes in on sunday thanks to a rod going bye-bye. Well see how it does.
