Anyone have a source they would recommend for welding a small crack from the mounting hole to the outside of an aluminum intake?

Check out this stuff. It works. I have repaired intakes and the block on my four wheeler with it. www.aluminumrepair.com It's easy to use and smoothes out excellent.

Home Depot sells aluminum brazing rods in the tool section where they sell the welders. Looks to be the same stuff.

Location?
A simple fix...if you're close I can get it welded.
I know a couple of aircraft certified welders that could "get 'er done". ;)

I agree with Al. Jerry McNeish at Z28camaro.com is one of the best around. I would try him, based on his reputation in the industry.

What exactly is the "reskinning" process that Camaro Hi-Perf does?

I had Jerry do a Corvette 3x2 Manifold The finished product is AWESOME. If you want a picture (After only I don't have before) I will send one to you. Send me a message at Ray_Opperman@yahoo and I can attach the picture and ship it back. The weld repair he did is INVISIBLE. I knew where the crack was and honestly I cannot find it now.

Nobody who does this reskinning wants to talk about what it is. One guy at a show actually got visibly ****ED at me when I asked how it is don't. I think I asked if it is some sort of acid bath or something like that. My approach has been if I like the end product I don't care how it was done. It seems nobody wants to tak abut it..they have to KILL Ya if they tell ya. Clearly the end result is good and the numbers are all readeable so I have nothing to complain about.

Fixing aluminum is really easy for a good welder. Making the repair really pretty is no big deal eather all it takes is patience and the right tools to smooth the welds down andmake them match the texture of the original unreworked piece.

Let me know on the picture
