i have just been going through the posts on body mounts and through the archives and found some really helpful info but am just curious about the fit in the frame the body bushings have a bigger diameter and a smaller diameter part do you place the bigger part under the frame pushing the smaller part through the frame and bolt it up? and did you guys use washers on either end? for some reason the holes from the old bushings are too small to do so... maybe i will have to grind out the hole so its bigger? just wanted to check with you guys before i break out the grinder.... thanks in advance

The larger part of the body mount goes on top of the frame and the smaller end of that part of the mount goes into the frame hole. The smaller part of the mount goes on the bottom/inside of the frame. The bolt goes up from the bottom into the body with a washer. There should be NO reason to make the holes any bigger. Not sure whats wrong but I would get the assembly manual, and look at other cars before any grinding is done...

If you look at the chassis pic in my sig. you can see one of the body mounts.

ok so if the larger end sits on top of the frame does that mean its only the washer that is holding the frame to this mount seems to me the frame would just slide off the small end?? maybe im overthinking it

The large part on top and the smaller rubber part on the bottom, then the bolt goes up from the bottom thru both parts then into the body. No way anything can move or slide out of place once the bolt is in....
I would strongly suggest getting a $20. assembly manual for your year Chevelle. It has pictures of stuff like this which makes it much easier to understand how parts like this fit together...
