Does anyone know what the 2 relays are under the passenger side of the dash are for, they both have 3 connectors on them, one is connected and the other is not. The one that is connected has pink orange and a blue wire on it, the one that is not connected has 2 pinks, 2 blues and a brown wire. The one that is not connected has a wire staple in it that fits across and connects 2 of the connectors. I have looked them up in the wiring diagram and they are listed as replays not relays. Anyone know what these might be? I have a 1971 monte carlo. I am wondering if I should remove this staple and use the connector to reconnect it? Thanks for any help.

Guessing the car came with factory A/C. If so, part of the A/C wiring on your 71.

Yes, the car does have AC, are these both for the AC and should I reconnect those wires or leave them the way they are? The AC works fine, but I was redoing the dash and saw that they were not connected. One other odd thing is that I have LO-HI on the blower for the heater etc... the blower fan always use to come on when I turned the key and now it does not come on, but the fan seems to be blowing much harder in High.... I had initially connected those wires and since the strange behavior I put them back the way they were, but the fan no longer come on low when I turn the key. It is off now on the low position. Thanks

As long as the A/C is working, I wouldn’t worry too much about the dieseling and blocking relays. As far as the fans blowing harder in high: In that position the fan is only dependent on what the alternator is putting out. If the alternator is around 14.5 volts, there’s nothing to allow the fan to spin slower. If the alternator has gone out of regulation, such as 16+ volts, the fan will spin faster.
If the lowest speed isn’t working, you might want to take some measurements on the speed resistor under the hood. The problem might be the switch or a problem with the resistor.

Thanks for the quick responses, I will check those items out and see if there isn't an issue. Greatly appreciate the help.
