I finally managed to get all my spark plugs out. Three of them were being blocked by the headers and I had to modify a special socket to get them out. One of the plugs was really bad. I'ts completely filled with carbon. Check this out:

I also posted a picture of the socket I modified. I basically cut out a slot in the socket so I could slide it sideways over the plug. I'd like to take credit for the idea, but I saw an add for a company selling something like this and I thought I could make one myself using a socket and a grinder with a cutting wheel.

So whats up with this plug? None of the other 7 looked like this. This plug came with the car so I don't know how long its been in there. I had replaced the wires last year so I wonder if a bad wire caused this. Its winter over here so I haven't test drove the car with the new plug in it. I'm expecting a pretty good performance improvement! I had been smelling gas out my exhaust last summer. I'm thinking this was the problem.

maybe because the previous owner didn't have the "slotted socket" or the wherewithall to make one and it never got changed. the important thing is to put a new one in and check that ones appearance after use. also, theres quite a few websites with comparitive spark plug reading pics, more than you'll ever need, try google. or even search here for links, they're out there.....good luck
