I saw this color on a Superformance Cobra in my area and was thinking about painting the Velle this color with bright white stripes. The owner said it was the Superformace Royal blue and I found this paint info on a cobra site. There is no code for it just the PPG mixture.

My painter uses Dupont and I would like to cross. Is that poossible? Can someone explain what the date below means?

ROYAL BLUE 54A552 475.3 1425.9
69M505 806.0 2418.0
54A926 878.3 2634.9
54M1 930.0 2790.9

Thanks
John

Do you happen to know the year of the car as I can look up and see what colors for that year or era has that name.
Also you sure its a factory color?
Maybe the reason it just had the PPG mix was because its a PPG speciality paint not some factory color!!

The name Royal Blue sounds Darn familiar on Fords. Those numbers might be a mix code.
PPG's dbc uses mix numbers like DMD643 etc. It might be the global numbers or even Omni has I wanna say the mix numbers start like that.

You have a link to that site??...Eric

You got my thinking so I went to the shop for the color books. I looked thro the specialty color book and found NO color named royal blue or superformance.

Looked throu the factory color book and found 2 colors named royal blue. Appear in 98, the first one has a OEM code of KM and PPG code of 4830. The othr has OEM LE and PPG 5112. The 2nd color is darker, 1st has more pearl to it also.

The only other color I found with a Royal Blue name is in 02, OEM LA and PPG of 4473, but its full name was Med royal Blue. One real sweet color I found was SVT blue pearlcoat OEM S1 and 5836.

If the color is indeed a PPG color and not a OEM then you are out of luck getting that color swithced to dupont. No different then wanting a tangerine orange pearl made by HOK, you want that color you need to buy it from HOK. PPG, dupont might have something that comes close but NOT THAT color

Superformance is a company that makes cobra turn key kits and they have some nice colors. The Cobra I saw was not quite as dark as the picture below. Here is there site.

This is the thread where I found the mixing ratio.

It looks a lot like the Honda peal blue metalic on the 2003 cars. I like that color A LOT but I don't want the purple tint. If you guys have any sugestions on white stripes chime in! I want something white....white....and bright!

Thanks!

Looked thro the site, that color wont do you any good. Those numbers are glasurit color tints and its weight added.
Ex 54A552 is the color tint code.
475.3 is how much you would add if mixing up 1 liter
1425.9 is how much of the same tint would be needed for 3 liters.

To mix this in PPG the codes are
ROYAL BLUE D763 724.0
(CODE N/A) D754 1237.8
D741 1630.2
D755 1742.2
D756 1847.2
D759 1912.6
These are mixed in just 1 liter

Sorry those wont do any good to your Dupont guy

Thanks dudes yeah I meant to post the PPG numbers. Looks like we might be using sikens or lesonal anyway so I'll have to pick another color. :(

If someone knows of a blue similiar to the new Honda pearl without the purple tint please share!

That's exactly what I'm looking for also a nice bright white graemlins/hurray.gif

Thanks
