I finished the new wiring harness to my console and the bulb is very bright and hot. I've tried lower wattage bulbs and it makes no difference. This is the courtsey light bulb at the back of the console same bulb as the overhead courtsey light. This is on my 70 Chevelle SS. The bulbs in the console that lights the shifter indicater is not affected. I have the SS wiring harness pigtail that goes to the console but I had to buy an aftermarket 7 pin harness to complete the wiring. Any one know what's going on.

Sounds like the bulb is still too big.

I put a 12 watt in and it was hot enough to melt the plastic. What wattage does the book call for. Maybe someone out there can tell me what wattage they are using sucessfully. The overhead 12 watt doesn't get near as hot. Jim
