does anyone know where i can buy resistance wire that goes from the coil to the starter? thanks

The wire from the coil to the starter should be regular copper wire. The resistance wire should originate at the firewall and go to either the coil or the solenoid.

Parts stores like oreillys and autozone sell them in little rolls on the shelf with the rest of their wiring, im going thru the same thing

My problem is my original resistance wire is gone so i wire a new one

You might find it easier to put a traditional ballast resistor in the circuit.

So if the circuit is not there and needs new wire ran, wouldnt it be easier to just run a resistance wire as opposed to mounting and connecting a ballast resistor, or am I thinking too hard about it an complicating it?

How much wire are you going to install?

I dont know exactly, If im not mistaken, i need to have 12v from a key run position from the fuse box running to the coil, which needs to be either a resistance wire or ballast resisted?

Yes, it would be easier just to run a resistance wire, problem is finding one as I don't think any auto parts store would carry it. Easiest place would be a junkyard. I think in your case it would be better to convert to a HEI as they don't need a resistance wire.

i saw small rolls of wire at autozone, said GM resistance wire on the package, maybe its something entirely different. dont have sufficient funds for hei right now,

Take a drive over to Kansas and I'll give you one.

The resistance limits the current through the coil and points, which extends the life of the parts.
