I did a bit of searching and didnt come up with much in relation to my question. Most people dont want to do things 1/2 A$$ed http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif Any way(and I appologize for the nonchevelleness but there has to be a slacker some were that might find this interesting too)I have a 83 chevy 4x4 that is in suprisingly good shape but I want to take care of some surface rust on the underside. I'm not going to take the fram off but will yank the gas tanks cuz they are leaking abit. All I want is to keep it from rusting out any more but am too lazy to spen days preping every nook and crany to nice clean shiny metal. I just want to go at it with my 4 1/2" grinder with a wire wheel on it and a wire brush and do a 1/2 reared job of preping things. Hose it down with some paint and keep my truck from rusting out on me ever(not much to ask huh http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif ) But at least I dont care what it looks like. I'd like to be able to atleast spray it with some black and posibly put some roll in bed liner in the fenders to gaurd against rocks(I got a heluva deal on a ton of it) I was thinking that eastwood stuff cuz POR seems kinda picky about how you apply it from what I heard(and pricey too http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif )Soory for the lenght but what are your guys thoughts on knocking the chunky rusty stuff off and blasting it with that correles and then hitting it with some black? Any other products you guys recomend? Thanks again

Cumon guys....sombody has to have used eastwoods corroless or por 15. I checked eastwoods site and it will cost me about 100 bucks for 2 quarts of correless and 2 quarts of chassis black and that should do the underneath of my rig. I think por is outa the price range.

Well, I've used the POR_15 and I think it's worth the money. Alittle goes a looooooong way. I know POR is designed to over rust, so I would used that. Never used the stuff from Eastwood, but I've seen some posts saying it's O.K. You wouldn't have to do alot of prep with POR if all your going to do is apply right over any rust, that's what it's desinged to do. Just clean it the best you can, removing atleast all the grease and grime and heavy rust, then just spread the POR. Like I said, a little goes a long way.
Hope this helps.

P.S. Here is some pics I took after applying the POR. I did all this with thier little "six pack".
I did alot of cleaning, but not too much rust removal, just wire brushed and got any flaking off.

Phillip,

I just did the frame and suspension parts. Not the full frame, but where the suspension bolts. I used POR15. I like it. I'm going to use a powerwasher to blow off the big stuff, hit some of it with a wire brush, and then coat it all with POR. I do know it'll be a long project. POR works good though, but follow the directions!
