Hello Everyone,

I want to install a posi unit in my 66 chevelle. I have the chassis manual, but it does not give you enough info on setting up and installing a posi. Anyone know a good book or a web site that takes you through this process?

This is basicaly how to do it in the 8.5 10 bolt. It won't be much different in your '66. Torque the ring gear bolts to 45 foot pounds in your '66. Ask questions here and you will get answers.

The factory "Chassis Overhaul Manual" has full info; "Chassis Service manual" does not.

70Avido, This is not aimed at you, so please don't take offense. I looked over those instructions a little and didn't like what I saw. He says to use some grease to hold the side shims in place while you take a block of wood and a sledge hammer and drive the differential in between them. That is very wrong. You can destroy a lot of stuff doing that. There are some other small details that I didn't agree with also. I didn't read any farther than the sledge hammer parts, so I don't know what else he did.
