Any of you guys remember the car called "The Blue Flame" which broke the world record land speed record on October 22nd, 1970?

yeah, i have a book on it. i belive it was a three wheeled rocket car. correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah, it was sponsored by a natural gas company, hence the name. I remember seeing a movie in like 4th grade of it breaking the record on th esalt flats

Yeah,
My Dad worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company, which was one of the sponsors. I've got the video that you saw in 4th grade of it breaking the record on the Salt flats. I just had it recorded to DVD from a 16 Milimeter movie format.
Pretty cool!!

October 22, 1970 it made two runs and averaged 622 mph on the salt flats.

Gary Gabelich, I saw him do it on 'The Wide Worlds of Sports' back in '70. The 'fastest man on earth' at the time. He died of cancer in the 90's I believe.
Funny, I just dug out the October '71 Car Craft that featured his follow up, a 4 wheel drive, monocoque, Vega Panel Express funny car. I know I have the original articles on his land speed record 'Blue Flame' somewhere...
