OK, I went through all previous threads to hopefully avoid opening this can. I am going to order a new hood, My question is; What brand/vender did you get yours from and were you happy with the fit/quality/price ?

Mine is an original GM but my son just got his Goodmark yesterday

Goodmark's are Ok.

My friend has a body shop and he has used several Goodmark hoods.

I just recently purchased a Goodmark 70-71 domed hood from Year One.....I'm not happy with it. It's workable and usable....gonna need some body work to get some dips and humps out.

Being in the auto paint and collision industry, I have had several dealings with Goodmark sheetmetal, mainly their hoods.....I have found their "consistence of quality" to be on par with all other aftermarket sheetmetal.....and that is that it is very inconsistent.

More often than not the Goodmark hoods, be them for Chevelles or Chevy pickups, etc, they need some work....even if it is just a good priming and blocking.

One the other hand, the Goodmark cowl hood I got for my 79 Z28 is perfect....it will get nothing more than a scuffing with 320 grit, a coat of 2k sealer and paint.

I know on the 67 SS hoods, they flex way too much. The solution is to put some tack welds around the perimeter where the skin meets the frame. It stiffens up nicely after that. I would think the same applies to the 70-72 hoods. I have one in my trailer, but have not yet taken it out of the box yet to closely examine it.
