I was wondering what advice you would give a first time painter. Im curious what paint i should start out with as far as just knocking out my first paint job. We have a truck to pretty much practice on. We are not going to take it down to bare metal. We dont have that much time and the paint job does not need to be THAT nice. Although we want it nice enough to sell. This wont be the last car we paint, I have a nova thats been needing paint for some time and a small host of other cars as well. Now I've asked a paint/body/friend that i know he said I should start out with a single stage paint. Do you guys recommend something like this or should i get used to base/clear right off the bat. Also what kind of primer should i use, should i use a polyester primer or a self etching primer. I may be confused on the words of the polyester primer im not sure....

Another thing my friends and I have been tossing around is the idea of a pseudo paint booth. We would like it to be close to a real paint booth, but we just want to build a cheap one. Anyone else try this? Anyone notice a difference really, do we even need a paint booth?
