I need to repair some rot on the rear inner wheelhouses. My is rotted in the front half of the inners on both sides. I see that year one and ground up both sell them..for different prices. (I don't think I can use the patch panel that year one sells because mine is bad to far forward)
my question: anybody have an opinion on which one is better, (or are they the same?) Or should I be looking somewhere else. I see goodmark has them also.
Can I replace the whole inner wheelhouse with doing the quarter? (The quarter new and was installed before I got the car)

if i was going to attempt what you are refering to i would order a new inner wheelwell.measure bad area cut a patch from new well, place it against old well ,then mark and cut the bad section out. but weld the patch in. it will still be a tough job. other choice to remove section of quarter remove the inner and outer wheelhouse and replace. that is my opinion mabe my post will stir others to answer the :D correct way.

I removed and replaced both rear quarters and outer wheelhouses on my 65 SS. At first I thought I would like to replace the inner wheelhouse as well, but they are not yet made for 65. On closer look, replacing the inner wheelhouse is a huge job in my opinion. YOu must cut braces that are key structural components and hold them in correct position until the job is done. Instead, I just welded in numerous small patches that I made from appropriate sheet metal. After they are in place, the welds ground down, and covered by filler, they look fine. Remember, this area is not usually open to public view. IMHO just patch what you have and save your money for other things. This is a great spot to learn to weld patch panels and nothing shows on the outside of the car.
