Hey guy's i'm getting ready to start some serious body work on my chevelle. About 60% is laquer check so i want to strip it all the way down. I want to use PPG products through out. When it's down to bare metal don't i need to seal and prime right away? when do i apply the bondo? Do i need to apply all the bondo first before priming? What's a good procedure?

thanks much,

john

You could strip and repair one panel at a time. And then prime. Less time the metal will see the bare elements.
Theres probably a 100 different ways to go about this. So I'm sure more will reply with different ideas.
you can strip it all down and then prime.
And the areas that need fixing take the primer off, and fix and then reprime.
If your new at all this I would do a panel at a time. And don't be in a big hurry. Theres no real quick way to do it perfect.

Half the car is laquer checked mainly on the passanger side. Does this mean i should strip the entire car? will the checking continue to the rest of the body at some point?

thanks john

Hilljack, do a search on primer, filler and bondo in the forum Body shop. You'll come up with many many posts and alot of good info. Also, you can post more than question in one posting http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Why take the risk of it cracking up later. For the time and money invested, strip it.
