Does anyone have any recommendations for a good video on body work? I'm interested on banging out metal and using filler--not painting.
Thanks.

I have never seen one. In fact, I have heard so many people ask the same question, I can say that the market could seriously use one. All I ever see is videos that show you how to do advanced procedures, most are VERY advanced.
If you find one be sure to post here with the info for the benefit of others. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Hey guy, why don't you make one. I have read with great interest your posts and taken many good tips and pointers away. Grad a video camera and through one together for us. Might be a whole new career for you. Holliwood MartinSr.

I agree. I'll take a copy MARTINSR! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I seriously looked for a video before I painted my car. None to be had. It seems that the paint suppliers and distributors make money putting on schools to learn how to use their products. Not cheap and you have to travel. I was so discouraged after painting my car, I told a buddy that was looking for a new HVLP gun to forget it. Buy the cheapest gun you can and spend the money on a good buffer. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif

They're out there. Eastwood has some. The ones by Covell and Fernier (sp?) are great for building street rod and metal work. Try car shows, big auto swap meets or talk to an autobody instructor on good videos.

Thank all of you for the show of confidence in me making a video, I have thought about it. But with my family being number one and taking most my spare time it will have to wait.
SS_dave, painting is another matter. There are a few good ones out there. CHeck out autobodystore.com for his "Painting 101" video. I haven't seen it but hear it is very good.
AlMyPal39, the ones you mention by Covell and Fournier are the ones I was refering to when I said that there are ones out there for the SERIOUSLY advanced student. I have a number of them, if you are starting they would be WAY, WAY, WAY over your head. These guys are like magicians!! One I have has John Glover making a model A front fender from scratch with no filler what so ever!

I HIGHLY recommend COVELL's basic metal fabrication for anybody planning on making panels from scratch, he is a true master (all the guys I mentioned are actually) and a true gentleman to boot.

I do remember seeing that on Ebay, they have been selling them for about a year I think. I'll bet you could get them straight through "Bondo" for free or a few bucks. I think that because he is selling them for nine or ten dollars, he has to be buying them for less. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

You can also sign up for a local autobody class. California has and R.O.P program or adult ed. classes at local high schools or community college. You get to use their tools, their paint booth, get up to 40% paint material and the class is free for R.O.P. or a minor fee for Adult Ed. classes. Shop around for classes. Find an instructor that does more metal finishing then filling, and but welds panels completely, not tacked and lapped. Look at the student's work. If you like it, then take the class. I've seen too many lousy autobody instructors out there!!!
