The front buckets of my 65 have seen better days. Its time to replace them but money is a little tight. Since keeping the car stock is of no concern, I have been thinking about getting those plastic racing seats I see in the catalogs. I was told by a friend that they are very unstable unless they are anchored to a rollbar (which I do not have, nor do I want). Its not going to be a daily driver, just a weekend cruiser. Is this a worthwile purchase or do I just wait and recover the factory seats. Anyone out there have them in their car?
Thanks,
Dante

I have them in my 70. I do have a cage but the seats are not anchored to it and they seem plenty stable. I am actually surprised with how comfortable they are. I havent taken any long road trips, but so far they are just fine. The one upgrade I did make was the mounting bolts that go through the floor. The bolts that come in the mounts are 5/16 and kinda short. I knocked those out, drilled bigger holes and put in 7/16 bolts that are longer.
Hope this helps!

A buddy was looking at buying a pair for his jeep and compared them...they're the same seat. I'm thinking Schucks/Checker is going to discontinue them and is blowing them out... Locally you can pick them up at Check for $139 and then get a $20 mail in rebate, so a pair would only run $240...

I just bought some from freaking Kragen, haha. I paid 139.99 each seat, but then I a $40 rebate for buying two. There great seats, and comfortable. REALLY GOOD FOR THE PRICE.

They are kinda tall. That's the reason I didn't buy a pair for my car.
