I am the process in putting back and original am radio back in my car. I am taking out the replacement radio. My question to everybody is can I just splice into back of radio with out trying to find harness.
Thanks Herb58

Herb, I'm getting ready to do the same thing. What are you using for a speaker?
I have also heard that an AM radio can be converted to FM? But look stock.
Keep me posted on your progress. I won't start my project until it warms up.
Thanks.........

There is also a place that will take the guts from a new stereo and install in your original.

Try a search on Google or Yahoo such as " radio restoration " or " antique radio repair " and you'll likely come up with many of the avl. shops out there. I've checked into this myself, so beware, converting an AM to AM/FM is going to cost you. Some of the places I checked were in the neighbourhood of $500.00

Yes you can actually solder to the contact foils that the plug goes into, I have considered the same but if anyone know's who sells just the radio and speaker plug pass on the info. I just ordered a new dash harness but a radio plug wasn't mentioned.

Thanks, Les

I bought a harness for my 70 am radio from American Autowire that just plugs into your underdash main harness, into your radio and up to your speaker for $14.00. No cutting or spicing, just plug it in.You could probably check with M&H also, they might have them.
