Hi guys,

I have a 72 rag topSS with a ZZ502. The suspension is so so but doesn't feel really safe to drive into corners with any aggression. I am afraid I made mods here and there that I may have to take off or drop in order to get the car to handle nice. I hate spending money twice on same parts so.. I am not looking to race the car, but would like it to steer and corner well. I currently have stock SS front and rear sway bars, stock springs, SSM lift bars, New Energy Suspension poly bushings in all the control arms. Tie rods and ball joints all stock but newer. The car is sitting on 235-60-15's on 8" torque2's in front and 325-50-15's on 10" torque thrust2's in back. If I have rear seat passangers the rear tires will rub a bit on turns inside and outside fenderwell. scares me to death, but I love the look of the wheel tire combo and spent a nice chunk of money on it. Hasn't caused any damage yet. I am looking at Hotchkis kits and global west stuff, Wolf, Edelbrock and here and there researching the forums here, just looking for some ideas that will work. I was wondering will I gain anything from adjustable uppers, and will they work in conjuction with the SSM lift bars? In the front I'm not sure what to do yet. Is the cool ride stuff from air ride tech just for trick kicks or does it work for handeling. I am looking to get the best performance possible without totally breaking the bank. Will I need to get a smaller tire in the back or can I get the suspension to tighten up and still handle well? Thanks, Matt.

FWIW Matt I have a 72 Chevelle 4dr with a 383 SB. I put all new "Stock" springs front and rear , PolyGraphite bushings in front upper and lower control arms , a 1 1/4" front sway bar to replace the .965" bar and added a 1" rear sway bar. The car was not origionally equipped with the rear bar. The handling dramatically improved to say the least. I also got rid of all 4 old wheels and tires in favor of 8" front and 10" rear wheels and tires. I chose Cragar SS steel wheels.

All in all I am very satisfied with the handling.

A foot note to the story : I broke the rear sway bar last summer and PST ( who supplied all of the suspension upgrades) Sent me a new sway bar free of charge. They now have a 100% lifetime guarantee on all of their products. I was pleased to say the least. Health problems have prevented me from putting the new bar on but sooner or later I'll get it attached. Good luck :)
