I've always heard not to mix brands, but what do you all think about this? Or should I just spend the extra $200 for the PPG products?

They say dont do it.I do it.a lot of people do it.If you let the primer cure good you should be ok,but if there is a problem, your on your own, because everyone will say they told you so.In the past i have used,Mar Hyde 2k prime, dupont basecoat, and many differnet types of clears.just make sure you dont mix brands of activators.i mean dont put PPG activator in Dupont primer.

I sold paint for four years and I will tell you technology is technology, it won't hurt a thing to spray different paint over the PPG primer.
