I have a 67 with a 10 bolt rearend. I want to put new coil springs on and found the axle mounts to be a post that the spring fits over. This does not seem correct. any ideas or comments ?

They sound like the normal 67 and later mounts. 66 and earlier had a flat perch with a clamp and bolt to hold the spring. Both require the same spring pigtail.

if you intend to use lowering springs this is what i experienced. i had a 67 with 2" drop springs in the rear and when i jacked the car up the springs would fall out becuase since they were lower than stock the axle would drop down too far. i had to make sure they were properly alligned in the upper frame mounts everytime i lowered the car down off the jack. i couldn't figure out anyway to prevent it, no way of bolting them to the axle, and i was always a little concerned about one falling out while driving! luckily it never happened.

Thanks Todd,
I bought the OEM rear springs from Ground Up and new rear shocks. The shock setup currently on the car appear to have a 2" spacer.,With the OEM springs and stock shocks... does the spacer stay in place ?

from what i remember, yes there is a 2" spacer for the shock mount on the bottom axle housing end. you should have no problems with those OEM springs.
