Has anyone used the pliers in the seat installation kit from our sponsor Groud UP? I have everything ready to go and have been unable to locate any locally. In the picture in the catalogue they appear to be pretty sturdy but I am looking for confirmation before I order.

Thanks
Deon

I bought mine at the local Ace Hardware. I think they were for real hogs, though. They worked, none the less.

This is a very standard tool in the upholstry trades, check with any supplier to auto upholsters in your area.

what are they charging for their pliers? Reason I ask is that I bought mine from national parts depot and they sell you the pliers and 250 hog rings for $19.95 + s/h. That was enough rings to do my front buckets and rear bench in my 66' malibu. They are professional grade.

just my 2 cents.

Well in the catalog they list them for 16.95 for the set of pliers and enough rings for front and rear seats. I ordered online and they were only 9.95. What a deal. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif I guess I will let you guys know what they are like after I get them.

WHATEVER you do! DON'T buy the cheap hog ring pliers! I had blisters on my hands for a month and I have tough hands!

Ok I got the hog ring pliers and rings from Groundup. The pliers themselves are about 4 inches long and have rubber padded handles? I was wondering if these are what are used or are there better ones out there?

Thanks for the help

Those don't work worth a ****!

Go to a good hardware store or farm supply and get real hog rings and pliers. They work much better and they're much cheaper.

By the way, hog ring pliers really WERE for hogs. Using essentially the same rings as used for upholstry, just put a few in the hog's snout (in the tough tissue around the nose) and the hog suddenly loses interest in digging in the dirt with his nose.
