I saw this mentioned in a post the other day and then again at the HotRods to Hell website. What does full-floater mean exactly and why is it supposed to be better?

Two bearings are used to support the wheel hub. They are located on the outside of the axle housing and absorb all the torque. That way, the only forced on the axles is that exerted by the engine.

We use to get a kick out of being able to take the axle out of our race car without removing the wheel & tire. With full floaters you can do that.

If you ever brake an axle, you'll wish you had a full floater.

Wow, looks like a killer deal on that site.

We got one for our road racer and it was an excellent setup. We had problems with axle lube leaking out around the ends of the regular 9" we were using and mucking up the brakes. You can get an inner umbrella seal that keeps all the lube in the center under hard cornering with the floater setup.
